For this project, we had to create the brand identity for a cult: FLDS (Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints). This is a polygamist cult who believes that their prophet is god on earth and that in order to get to Zion or heaven, men had to have at least three wives. Women have to “pray and obey” and Keep things Sweet (essentially serving men in their journey to Zion). They have to wear their hair up in specific hairstyles that can be learned in videos provided by the cult.

We had to create a logo, design the color palette, posters, a billboard, flyer and Power Apps as well as a booklet.

Logo and Color Palette

Following their religion, we saw that God created light from darkness; following the physics of color, white reflects back all the visible wavelengths of light that shine on them which would mean that light is white. We went back to the RGB. Without Red Green and Blue we are not able to get white.

We related this back to the three wives allowing their husband to rise to light, or Zion.

Image Style

Following our logo, we decided to stick with dots since each one of them represent a person and how these joint to get to the common goal.

Booklet

We created a “Good Prophet’s guide” following our grid for the whole design system. We included information which would be considered formal and also hidden messages in a different color of what the prophet would really think. We maintained our image style and colors as well as starting off with pages in the 100s since it would allude to polygamy.
